I may look like a regular yellow raincoat, but I am so much more. When Sam’s mom picked me up a few years ago, I was brand new. I loved playing in the rain with Sam as she danced through puddles. When my sleeves became too short for her, Sam got a new raincoat. That’s when my journey really started. After being given to The Salvation Army Thrift Store, I travelled from the production floor to the sales floor, and I learned why donations like me matter. Being donated empowered me to be more than just a raincoat.
I was only on the rack for two days before Mason found me. He didn’t know it, but Mason was doing so much more than simply finding a new raincoat. By choosing to take me home, Mason and his family were supporting local Salvation Army programs and services, like the food bank close to our home that feeds over 800 families every month, and the shelter downtown that provides safety and warmth to individuals experiencing homelessness. Every donation like me helps generate funds to support programs that bring care to neighbours in need.
There’s power in giving items like me a chance to really matter for someone who needs a helping hand. Thanks to Sam and Mason, I am one powerful raincoat! Click here to learn more.
