This July 15th, celebrate Give Something Away Day by decluttering, donating, and doing good for your environment and your community.
Everyone loves the feeling of decluttering – it even has proven benefits for our mental health. Getting rid of excess “stuff” can benefit our mental state by making us feel calmer, happier, and more in control. But the positive impacts of getting rid of things we don’t need or want extends far beyond personal benefits.
By dropping off a donation of gently used clothing or household items at your local Donor Welcome Centre, you are doing much more than just making space in your home. Every donation to The Salvation Army Thrift Store helps support greener communities by extending the lifecycle of usable items, promoting recycling and reuse, and keeping these goods out of landfill.
Donations also support neighbours in need by helping to generate funds that contribute to Salvation Army services like food banks, shelters for those experiencing homelessness, addictions treatment and rehabilitation programs, and more – right in your community.
Donations are urgently needed in most of our communities across Canada, especially of seasonal summer items like shorts, shirts, and dresses, as well as housewares and home décor items.
Feel good and do good by donating to your local Donor Welcome Centre on Give Something Away Day, and take home a 20% off coupon to save on a new-to-you fab find from your local Thrift Store.
