Thrifted High Tea Set and Spring Wreath DIY

March 21, 2024

Let me first begin by saying, I love to create and entertain! I also love to thrift because I never know what I’ll find. Sometimes it’s exactly what I need, other times, I leave the store with something entirely different then what I set out to originally find. For this thrift haul, I set out on a mission to thrift items for a craft and entertaining guests and I came home with a thrifted high tea set and spring wreath DIY project.

Easy Spring Wreath DIY

In terms of being crafty, handmade wreaths are my specialty. Whether the flowers are made out of felt or plastic florals, there is some satisfaction in creating something of your own. It’s great therapy, a way to wind down and spend a few hours doing something productive that will delight you and add a creative flare to your space.

Finding the plain white wreath was a complete fluke! While I was wandering the aisles of our Mississauga Thrift Store, I had it in my head to create a floral arrangement. But then I spotted the wreath perfect for crafting and spring flowers to match. I also chatted up our staff, commented on some fab finds and let my creative juices flow for my next project, which was to thrift items for a themed social gathering.

Thrifted High Tea Set

I saw some cute tea sets and thought an Afternoon Tea party would be great. For Afternoon Tea, ideally you’d want to thrift a three-tiered cake stand, but to substitute, a nice flat platter to showcase your desserts and other treats works out fine as well. The food served at Afternoon Tea can include scones, savory items (e.g., finger sandwiches) and sweats. I used Earl Grey for my tea of choice, but feel free to also use any tea you’d like including herbal.

For my Afternoon Tea, I served easy cucumber sandwiches consisting of white bread, cucumber cut into thin slices and cream cheese. I also made lemon cupcakes with buttercream frosting topped with lemon zest. Store bought goodies are great too. Whichever way you want to approach Afternoon Tea, the Thrift Store is there to help you entertain your friends and family on any afternoon!
