Spontaneous Summer Wardrobe Thrift Haul

No thrift checklist = no problem: Camille’s spontaneous thrift haul at our Toronto St. Clair store led to some of the most fabulous finds — from vintage napkins to chic sundresses, her cart is overflowing with thrifted treasures!

An Unexpected Treasure

Right from the start, Camille was super excited about her finds. One of her top picks was a set of vintage napkins by Bob Van Allen for $0.99!

No Thrifting Plan = No Problem

Camille went thrifting without any specific goals, and this led to a cart overflowing with fantastic items. Sometimes, the best finds happen when you’re just exploring without a plan. The surprise and excitement of finding something awesome is what makes thrifting so much fun!

Thrifted Tea Cup Bird Feeder DIY

Are you looking for a fun and sustainable way to attract beautiful birds to your backyard this summer? Our collaborator Nancy created a delightful DIY bird feeder using a vintage tea cup from her local Thrift Store:

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Vintage tea cups and saucers from a Calgary thrift store
  • Strong adhesive or hot glue
  • Leather twine
  • Birdseed
  • A tree branch or hook for hanging

1. Thrift Your Tea Cups and Saucers

Start by visiting your local Thrift Store to pick out vintage tea cups and saucers.

2. Clean and Prepare

Wash the tea cups and saucers thoroughly to remove any dust or residue and let dry.

3. Glue the Tea Cup to the Saucer

Use a strong adhesive or hot glue to attach the bottom of the tea cup to the center of the saucer. Make sure it’s secure and let dry.

4. Attach the Leather Twine

Cut a piece of leather twine to your desired length. Tie it securely around the handle of the tea cup. If you’re using a tea cup without a handle, you can glue the leather twine to the bottom of the saucer for extra support.

5. Fill with Birdseed

Once the glue is completely dry, fill the tea cup with birdseed. Choose a mix that’s suitable for the types of birds you want to attract.

6. Hang Your Beautiful Bird Feeder!

Find a nice spot in your garden to hang your new bird feeder. It can be from a tree branch or a hook. Make sure it’s in a place where you can easily watch the birds come and go.
