Jordan’s Many Roles at the Thrift Store

October 16, 2024

One of the guiding principles that shines brightly in our Verdun Store in Montreal is the power of recognizing and leveraging untapped potential. Our Store Manager Jordan, who recently celebrated his twenty-year anniversary with The Salvation Army Thrift Store, embodies this principle.  During his long-standing career with the organization Jordan has held various roles and is now the Store Manager at the Verdun Thrift Store, where he has been leading for the past five years.

What first drew him to the organization was the search for work. However, what has kept him engaged is knowing that the proceeds generated from the sales of our donations go to support local Salvation Army programs and services. “It feels good when the store does well, because you know it’s going towards helping people,” he said.

Early in his career, Jordan demonstrated his ability to recognize and step into roles where his potential could make a difference. Whenever the store was short-staffed, Jordan took the initiative to fill management gaps, often stepping up to carry out tasks that needed to be done when no one else was available. This adaptability has helped Jordan with his self-development and contributed to the success of his career. He expressed that, “It always helps if you feel that you have unleveraged strengths to try to demonstrate them instead of just waiting to be asked.”

Jordan’s many roles at the Thrift Store have allowed him to make a positive impact on the daily operations of our store and encourages the professional development of other teams.

Thank you, Jordan for sharing your talents and expertise with our organization!
