With Christmas a little over a month away, what better time for a very simple DIY for your family and friends that has short-term and long-term joy in it. All you need is to source some thrifted cookie cutters, a simple fudge recipe and the space to make festive magic happen.
Supplies:
thrifted cookie cutters
simple fudge recipe (my recipe included butter, condensed milk, chocolate and a microwave)
wax paper
cookie sheet
festive plastic bags
< STEP 1: Choose your cookie cutters
Start out by visiting your local Salvation Army Thrift Store for some cookie cutters. I found large and small festive cookie cutters that were perfect for this DIY. Wash and allow to dry.
STEP 2: Fudge fusion >
Next make your fudge. I found an easy recipe that only included 3 ingredients, a microwave and a lot of stirring. You’ll also want to gather your decor for the fudge – this could be sprinkles, marshmallows, candies, etc.
< STEP 3: Grease your materials
Now that your fudge is good to go, you’ll want to grease the cookie cutters so it’s easy to remove the fudge. You’ll also want a cookie sheet and wax paper for your cookie cutter fudge goodness. The fudge will need to set for a few hours before we wrap them up.
STEP 4: Add finishing touches >
Use a spoon to fill the cookie cutters with fudge. You can use the spoon to ensure you get fudge in all the nooks and crannies. You may also want a knife to level the fudge at the top of your cookie cutter. Once you’ve finished adding the fudge then you can start decorating it.
After decorating, place in your fridge and allow to set.
< STEP 5: Time for gifting!
Once the fudge has set then you’re ready to add the fudge-filled cookie cutters into plastic gift bags. You can either use plain bags or decorated ones. Or decorate the plain ones. And that’s it! They are ready to be gifted!
