Hello fellow thrifters, since we are in a new season I’ve been feeling really inspired to paint again and for today’s DIY art project. I thought it’d be fun to gouache paint onto this glass box that I thrifted a while back from Salvation Army Thrift Store.
For this DIY project, all you need is a paint brush, acrylic or gouache paint, glass of water, and of course a glass or mirror piece that you would like to paint on!
STEP 1: Wipe off all dirt and dust on glass >
It’s important to make sure that everything is wiped and cleaned before you paint on glass, so that you can avoid any mistakes or dust trapped on the paint!
< STEP 2: Paint on flower buds
For the flower buds I’ve mixed in red and pink paint together to make a vibrant magenta colour and now I’m just placing the flower buds first before I paint the leaves.
STEP 3: Paint on vines and leaves >
Next, I added in the vines and leaves and started to paint underneath the flower buds. And while you are doing this try to leave a little bit of space in between the vines so it’s one big green blob!
< STEP 4: Paint butterflies and anything else you want!
For the last step I added in white butterflies and added in little dots to add a personal touch. Feel free to use your imagination and add in anything else you like!
And voila, that is the final result! If you end up trying this out for yourself on your thrifted decor, I would love to see it on Instagram. Feel free to tag @thereshegoesyt and @SAThriftStore for us to see! Good luck and Happy Spring!
