Halifax Thrift Haul

October 28, 2021

We teamed up with the fabulous Terri Durling of @glammas.closet on Instagram for this guest blog collaboration. Terri visited our Bedford Commons Thrift Store and takes us through her thrift haul and how she styled her fab finds at home.

I was thrilled to find out that one of my favorite thrift stores had opened a new location in Bedford.

I visited the Salvation Army Bedford Commons Thrift Store with one of my kids and we enjoyed a great time together picking out items. My child had lost quite a bit of weight recently and what better way to replenish your wardrobe than thrifting.

The store is large and well laid out with ample parking. There is a large selection of men’s clothing which is not something I often find and that was a bonus for my child.

Thrifting not only helps the planet, it is also a lot of fun and we had plenty of that as we searched the store for treasures.

It was our lucky day because all long sleeve blouses and shirts were 50% off. We were thrilled to each find a pink one that suited our individual styles perfectly.

I couldn’t wait to style up all the great items I found.

FIND #1: Cream tunic dress

This cream tunic dress caught my eye.  It reminded me of 60s style so I had to wear it with my white boots.  It’s a bit short as a dress for me particularly but that can be easily fixed.  I love it as a tunic.  I layered a cream sweater underneath for a cozy cold weather look.  The black and white look is fun and all put together with things I have had forever.

FIND #2: Art print-tank top

This tank top is a copy of Van Gogh’s famous “Sunflowers” masterpiece and I could not resist it – so fun.  I made my headwrap using a scarf and a green tee shirt wrapped up and secured with a brooch.

FIND #3: Neckties

I found two neckties both in pink tones.  One had beaded embellishments all over it but I did not have time to style it up.  The other one was a beautiful floral and I styled it up three ways.

FIND #4: Striped collared shirt

My last item was picked out for me by my child from the men’s department.  It’s a gorgeous blue and gray striped shirt and they know me well as I was thrilled with it.  I styled it a couple of ways.  One is with a vintage gold two piece suit I have had for years. The other look is a more Parisian flavoured ensemble complete with a beret – tres chic.  I hope you think so too.

FIND #5: Silk top

I really liked the print on this silk scarf print top I found.  It’s something I will enjoy wearing next summer for sure.

These are just a few of the items I purchased (watch the full thrift haul here). We both found lots of other things and were thrilled with our treasures.  I will be back.  Till the next time.
