Recycling and Garbage Information

We thank you for considering The Salvation Army for your charitable donations. Unfortunately, due to high volumes of garbage received at our our warehouse, we would encourage customers to carefully evaluate their items prior to donating. If they are not resalable items, please consider contacting the Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council (SWRC).

The SWRC is a non-profit, non-government organization whose mission is to help Saskatchewan attain the environmental, economic and cultural benefits that come from reducing waste. Paint Disposal and Rcycling Program
Paint and paint products are collected, and reusable is made available within the community. For information on the province-wide program, contact Safety and Environment, SaskTel, 2nd floor 2121 Saskatchewan Drive, Regina S4P 3Y2. Phone: 306-777-2747

Used Oil Recycling Program
The program has encouraged the development of over 250 used oil collection facilities, in over 150 communities. For information contact SARRC at 2366 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7L 5X5, or call the toll-free information line at 1-877-OIL-SASK

Pesticide Container Collection Program
Collected containers are shredded and recycled as curb-stops and fence posts, or used as an energy source in some industrial plants. For more information on where to deposit containers, contact the Saskatchewan Pesticide Container Management Association at 1-800-721-1585

Scrap Tire Program
Disposed of tires are recylced as truck box-liners, planters, playground equipment, vehicle ramps, flooring, civil engineering materials and alternative fuels. For information, contact the SSTC at 1-306-721-TIRE.
