Donating in Thunder Bay or Saskatchewan?
Although The Salvation Army does not refuse any donation,
there are items that are not encouraged due to sanitary, health and safety
reasons. They include:

- Baby Accordion Gates
- Bathtubs (unless antique)
- Barbecues
- Boats (unless approved)*
- Cars (older than 1990 or vintage, and in good running condition)
- Console Unit TV's and stereos
- Dehumidifiers/Humidifiers (older than 2002)
- Encyclopedias
- Flammable Materials/Chemicals
- Gas Appliance
- Hospital Beds
- Hide-a-beds
- Magazines (older than 2003)
- Metal Box Springs
- Newspapers
- Office Dividers
- Organs and Pianos (unless small and in working condition)

Recycling and Garbage Information
We thank you for considering The Salvation Army for your charitable donations.
Unfortunately, due to high volumes of non-usable items received at our our
warehouse, we would encourage customers to carefully evaluate their items prior
to donating. If they are not resalable items, please consider the following:

- Contact our 311 Centre:

- Visit the Brady Road Landfill located on the Perimeter Highway, just past west of Waverley Street

Tips from Winnipeg Water and Waste
Renovation and Construction Waste
e.g. Fences, concrete, sod, sand, mud, drywall, lumber, shingles,
doors, bathtubs, windows, carpet. Take it to a landfill
Large and Bulky Materials
Call the Customer service Centre at 204-986-5858 to arrange
a pick up
Household Hazardous Waste Products
e.g. oil based paints,
paint brush cleaners, gasoline, gasoline, used oil, propane
tanks, antifreeze, car batteries, pesticides, herbicides.
Take them to a collection centre for free, safe disposal.

E-Waste
e.g. Old TV's, VCR's, stereos, microwaves, phones, cell phones,
computer equipment, fax machines, copiers and rechargeable
batteries. If they still work, call 311 for a list of companies,
charities, and schools that may be able to use them. If they
do not work all e-waste items can be dropped off at any of
the temporary collection points free of charge for proper
end of life recycling, To find the nearest e-waste depot
location, call 1-866-460-3118
Car Parts
e.g. Fenders, doors, radiators, mufflers. Take them to a
scrap metal dealer for recycling
Car Tires
Take them to a tire store. Most retailers will recycle them
Liquids
If it not a hazardous liquid, it can be pored down the drain.
Please do not pour fats and oils down the drain. Put them
in a container with a tight sealing lid and put them in
the garbage
