Welcome the spring sunshine with this stained glass feature created by restyling a photo frame. All you need is a thrifted frame and some Sharpies to create this elegant showpiece in a jiffy.
Visit your local Salvation Army Thrift Store to source a secondhand frame to refashion. Make sure the frame includes the glass insert.
You can either wing it with a design, create your own or find something online. Size the design to fit within your photo frame dimensions then print it out.
Tape the stencil in the centre of the glass insert. Make sure the glass is on top of the design. Now you can get out your Sharpies to start creating your stained glass design.
First trace your design onto the glass using a Sharpie. You can use black or maybe try gold or silver to create the outline. Then colour in the shapes using different coloured Sharpies until you've completed your design.
Place the glass insert back into your frame. You may need to hack the back of the frame to ensure the glass is firmly in the frame.
Now you can add hardware for hanging your stained glass feature. I used screw-in eyelets on the back of one of my projects then added the wire for hanging my feature.
Now you're ready to hang your stained glass feature. Find a window that's the perfect home for your feature then hang it. Adjust the length of the metal wire as needed.
And that's it! It's a very simple DIY that looks stunning on a sunny day. It's easy, it's cheap and it's one-of-a-kind. Can't beat it!
