Thrift Challenge: Finding Spring Fashion Trends

Contributed by Anna Lee, Youtuber and Salvation Army Thrift Store Creative Expert.

This week I went over to Salvation Army Thrift Store on Parliament Street and decided to challenge myself to see if I could find some key fashion trends for spring 2018!

1. Pastel

If you’re not a big fan of crazy vibrant bold colours to wear this spring then consider wearing pastel-coloured clothing. I always feel that pastel colours always add such a subtle hint of colour without being too bold. I was surprised at how easy it was for me to find pastel-coloured clothing hidden amongst the clothing racks.

2. Mix-Match Prints & Floral Patterns

Now if you’re on the opposite side of the spectrum and obsessed with bold vibrant prints and colours then this is the perfect spring trend for you! While I was at Toronto Fashion Week, I noticed a lot of mix-match prints on the runway— it was absolutely beautiful and inspiring. And since floral prints are definitely a key pattern for this season see if you could find some floral clothing at your local thrift store!

3. Sheer Lace

This is by far my favourite wardrobe essential and spring fashion trend because there’s something about sheer lace clothing that just makes everything look so elegant and romantic. Not only is it beautiful to look at, sheer lace materials are easily breathable which is perfect for warmer weather. I personally love finding blouses that have a vintage yet seamless way of incorporating sheer lace.

Final Thoughts

I’d have to say that this wasn’t much of a challenge at all because it was quite easy for me to find items for spring fashion trends. But I do encourage you all to try this challenge out for yourself and hit up your local Salvation Army Thrift Store to see if you can find some spring wardrobe essentials. Try something new and experiment with your fashion this spring. Good luck!
