Creating a new way to reuse an old thrifted item

Contributed by: Anna Lee, Vlogger and Salvation Army Thrift Store Creative Expert.

One of the best ways to spruce up an old thrifted item is to add a bit of a personal touch to it. I had this jacket for months now sitting in my closet with no wear out of this poor old thing so I decided to add some personality by painting it.  I sprang to action and decided to paint stars all over this jacket by using acrylic paint first and then coating it with a leather gloss finishing. And to my surprise it actually worked and it ended up being a success. So now I can actually wear this thing around the city and show off my “new” jacket.

It’s always nice to spruce up an old thrifted item when you’ve lost love for it because once you change things up you get excited to re-wear the item again. So I encourage you guys to try this out for yourself and even find yourself a nice jacket at Salvation Army Thrift Store that you can customize! And if you would like to see the full tutorial of this DIY I created one here so that you can follow through with my steps. Remember to re-use and recycle folks, good luck!
